Starting with a special athletic blend of seed from five different types of Kentucky Bluegrass, D. Breen's Kentucky Bluegrass sod exhibits superlative traits. Each of the following types comprise about 20% of the athletic seed blend from which D. Breen cultivates its Kentucky Bluegrass sod. All share excellence in resisting a variety of common diseases and blights to which grass is susceptible. These include resistance to leaf spot, stripe rust, powdery mildew, summer patch, stripe smut, necrotic ring spot, red thread, Microdochium pink snow mold, brown patch, spring melting out, leaf rust, stem rust, fusarium blight, dollar spot and anthracnose fungal disease.
In addition, all five types used in the Kentucky Bluegrass seed blend exhibit a lush, dark green color, have a dense, short, compact growth pattern, and are resilient against high traffic and excessive wear including tough, repetitive sports activity. All five types of Kentucky Bluegrass within this same seed blend also tolerate drought, some shade, and extreme heat and cold, as well as a low mowing height.
